Another Star Wars series is coming to Disney+, and this one stars the Young Pope himself. Lucasfilm announced yesterday that Jude Law will star in Skeleton Crew, which—like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka— is set in the post-Return of the Jedi era. According to Vanity Fair, “Inside Lucasfilm, the show is being described as a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.”

That’s all well and good, I guess, but between “Let’s make a show like the Amblin ’80s movies” and “Let’s make more Willow,” the Lucasfilm televised universe feels like it’s going to drown in nostalgia. (Hopefully Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte will do something else, at least!)

Skeleton Crew is created by director Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford, two of the minds behind Spider-Man: Homecoming. They’ll executive produce the show along with Clone Wars mastermind Dave Filoni and Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau.

Watts and Ford appeared at Star Wars Celebration to promote the show. According to Polygon, the creators told the audience that “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will focus on a group of kids around 10 years old from a ‘tiny little planet’ who get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. The series will be about their journey home, and while Ford said the show was about kids, it’s not necessarily for kids.”

Just as long as they’re not from Tatooine, right? We gotta find new planets to visit. Like Ahsoka and the third season of The Mandalorian, Skeleton Crew will air in 2023.
